What is Hypnosis?

Within science it is accepted and obvious that hypnosis exists and works. The British Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis states: "In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist."

Long gone are the days when hypnosis was seen as waving watches and controlling people's minds. In a professional hypnotherapy and clinical hypnosis session you are always in control. Furthermore it is generally accepted that all hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis. A hypnotist merely helps to facilitate your experience - hypnotherapy and clinical hypnosis is all about empowerment. And not about being made to do things as the media sometimes would like to have it perceived.

Also contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. It does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the client is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating on your own inside and the changes. In this hypnotic state your subconscious mind is heard, the beauty of hypnosis.

Hence the Master Hypnotherapist is able to have a chat to the client's subsonscious mind in hypnosis and help to get the client back in line with what the client wants. Thus in hypnosis the seeds for change become firmly planted and thus are lasting.

Sunshine Coast Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis practices and promotes healing and positive development. Our aim is for you to have more choice in your thinking, feeling and behaviours. This ultimately enables you to overcome problems, leave the old stuff behind and move forward towards where you really want to be. In the relaxed state of hypnosis, changes are easy and effortless. Also in hypnosis the sensation of pain may become less acute and other symptoms may be alleviated too.

How does hypnosis and hypnotherapy work?

The very relaxing state of hypnosis is available to all of us. It's a bit like day dreaming and can occur naturally when a person has become totally absorbed in what they are doing. Thus, like day-dreaming, hypnotic like states may occur in people regularly. Your subconscious mind is the 'older', more instinctive part of your mind and only when it accept and makes the changes you want will those be lasting and a part of you and the easiest way to achieve this is in hypnosis. Old behaviours that served people well at a certain time in their lives may prove to be a little out of date now. For example: certain behaviours, fears, feelings maybe very beneficial for a child, however may prove to be quite the opposite for the same person as a grown up. Hence it may be time to update the 'software' though hypnosis. Real progress and lasting changes can only be made by aligning the subconscious and the conscious mind, easiest done through modern clinical hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

What may the hypnotherapy and hypnosis treatment be like?

Firstly you, our client, will remain fully aware of your surroundings and situation while in hypnosis. Hypnotherapy generally requires several sessions. The depth of your hypnosis experience may vary from session to session depending on many factors and generally you will find it easier to go deeper into hypnosis after a few sessions. Also we may find it useful to teach you relaxation techniques, self hypnosis and stress relief which you can all practice at home and will help counter stress and anxiety related conditions.

What problems can be treated by hypnotherapy and hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy can be applied to many psychological, emotional and physical disorders. Please see the page changes for a list. Hypnosis is used to resolve depression, anxiety, panic attacks and phobias of all kinds and to manage Stress. Other conditions react well to hypnotherapy too like all that are exacerbated by stress and tension. Hence skin conditions, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), psoriasis, eczema, stomach ulcers, inflammatory Bowel Disease and many more respond well to Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy especially when combined with NLP and CBT in a highly professional manner. Clinical Hypnosis also helps greatly with pain management in and after surgery and dentistry, and hypnosis can ease the suffering of the disabled and those facing terminal illness. Even tinnitus and insomnia can be treated with the combination of hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP. And of course what people usually tend to think of first is to overcome addictions and to quit Smoking with hypnosis, stop nail biting and alcoholism hypnotherapy. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy for children is very safe and can be help nocturnal enuresis (bed wetting) and chronic asthma, whilst teenagers may benefit from Hypnosis to conquer stammering or blushing problems. Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, especially in the combination with NLP and CBT can also lead to increased focus, attention and memory resulting in accelerated learning.

What else do I need to know about hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

You are in control over your own hypnotic experience and the right level of hypnosis is any level that allows you to let the subconscious mind work things out at the unconscious level. Everybody experiences hypnosis and hypnotherapy differently and every hypnotic experience is different. By the way in hypnosis you do not lose control and you can't be made to do things that go against your will, moral or beliefs by the hypnotist. Which would be against my integrity, ethics and moral anyway. In fact, your will power may be strengthened with hypnosis. Plus good hypnotherapy the way you get it here is all about giving you more choices.

In hypnosis, it is usual to feel relaxed, at ease, and you may well enjoy a special peace of mind. During the hypnotherapy session and in hypnosis many people comment on their feeling of comfort and security, or the sensation of lightness or floating. Hypnosis is a lovely and very pleasant state in which change can occur more easily, the essence of every good hypnotherapy session.

Hypnotherapy is particularly useful for helping you change behaviours and realise your true potential. Modern hypnosis and professional hypnotherapy are one of the most powerful methods for mental and physical relaxation.

So whether you'd like to use your hypnotherapy session at the leading Sunshine Coast Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy centre for your personal change, to eliminate certain behaviours or want to enable your own success and achieve excellence through hypnotherapy, I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your personal journey.
